For many riders, hitting the twisties is limited to weekends. The rest of the week, they're faced with the unique challenges of city and suburban riding environments. This new 2-day Stayin' Safe program provides a mix of both, with training on city streets and in suburban neighborhoods plus we'll reward ourselves with some of Eric's favorite local backroads. Taking advantage of Pittsburgh's colored belt system, a mysterious series of surface streets connected in concentric routes that circumnavigate the city of Pittsburgh and marked by road signs featuring a large dot in the route's corresponding color, for example, "The Orange Belt". While these colored belt routes serve no apparent practical purpose, they are perfect training routes for our "Perfect Mix" Stayin' Safe program.

On the first day, we'll be applying critical visual strategies (scanning tecnhiques, recognizing potential threats, prioritizing potential risks, having escape routes, etc.) and honing the motorcycle skills critical to urban survival (swerving, braking, managing traffic to the rear, low-speed control, etc.). On the second day, the tour changes gears and provides a much-deserved break from the urban jungle as the bikes head out of town for some enjoyable back-road riding and training. It's the best of both worlds in one training tour.  Each day wraps up with a debrief session before riders head off for an evening on their own.

Each day, training begins and ends in Monroeville, PA, 13 miles east of Pittsburgh at the junction of routes 76 (PA Turnpike), 376, 22 and 48. To keep program costs down and to give participants the widest array of lodging options, this training tour does not include overnight accommodations and dinner. Stayin' Safe can recommend several nearby options to suit your taste.
