Eric has been a continually active rider since his first solo jaunt on a Honda MiniTrail at age eight behind his grandfather’s motorcycle shop in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Through the years, Eric concentrated on developing his riding skills – not specifically to become a safer rider, but to become a better rider.
Today, Trow is a highly qualified and trained motorcycling expert. He is recognized widely for his Riding Well column in Rider magazine and for his Stayin’ Safe rider tips segment as well as periodic rider proficiency-oriented features. He has become a popular speaker at major motorcycle industry events around the country.
His formal training as an instructor began with years as an MSF RiderCoach, followed by mentoring and certification by safety expert Lawrence Grodsky in his renowned on-street Stayin’ Safe program (Trow now owns and operates Stayin’ Safe and has written the modern curriculum). Eric was named the recipient of the coveted “AMA Outstanding Road Rider Award” in 2013 for his contribution to motorcyclist safety and the motorcycling community. In addition to his commitment to teaching, he remains a devout student, routinely participating in every form of motorcycle training he can find … from parking lot courses to track-based programs to flat track racing schools and even the comprehensive and highly demanding motor officer training school. “The riding gets better and better the more we learn,” Trow says. “And I believe that being a student makes me a better instructor.”
When he is not teaching or writing, Eric enjoys riding and wrenching on his vintage motorcycles (he serves on the board of the Antique Motorcycle Foundation) or traveling with his wife Amy. He also spent more than 30 years as a professional commercial voice talent and studio singer and occasionally finds time to for oil painting and his lifelong hobby of model making.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”817,196,821,903,824,818,907,822″ img_size=”200″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
